There are some locations in the world which suffer from perpetual conflict. It seems that regardless of the amount of compassion directed toward such places, conditions do not change.

This is a situation in which you can make a difference. Unlike those areas which are always in conflict, it is unusual and in fact strange for Russians to be fighting Ukrainians or supporting the breakup of Ukraine.

Putin has banned the import of food into Russia from Europe and the United States. This is a strange move as it will only increase food prices for regular working class Russians.

Media in Russia and the West is often inaccurate in different ways. There is no sense in being angry at Russians who are like people everywhere. These moves are simply the moves of governments.

We must "be the change, we wish to see in the world." This means to we must live through love and compassion not through fear.

As this conflict unfolds, we can see the tragedy played out on the small bites of video that are shown. On July 22nd, a "pro-Russian militiaman said his forces shot down Malaysia Airlines Flight Mh17."

Many of us thought that this event would precipitate a change in the situation. We felt that this would move Putin to withdraw support for the separatists and simply affirm the integrity of Ukraine and provide support for this ancient Slavic alliance.

So far, we have not seen that happen. Let's encourage this "soulution."

Current Conflict
Will Putin rebuild his relationship with Ukraine by rebuffing the separatists and affirming the integrity of Ukraine's current borders, while negotiating a treaty regarding the Crimea, or play a "lose/lose" scenario which results in increased fear and tension throughout other republics.
